Drinking water on STX

Hello all!

My husband and I are moving down to STX this fall. We are wondering about the drinking water. We have a water cooler (that you purchase the large jugs and set upside down on) from when we lived in NY. Does anyone use those? We just use a PUR filter on our faucet here, and figured maybe that would be okay too. We just want to know if we should bring the water cooler or try and sell it here first. His work is paying for the move, so it's not a cost issue, just wondering what the preference is of people who really know the island and the water.

Thank you for any responses,
Erika

Since most water here is stored in cisterns buying large 5 gal. jugs for your cooler will give you good clean drinking water allt he time should you decide not to drink the water from the cistern. Bring it -- you will use it even it you don't plug it in to cool the water.

Definitely bring it. It seems like everyone buys drinking water. We have a Brita on our sink, but don't trust it yet. I am getting the results of my water test back from Ocean Systems today, so maybe they will tell me the filter is good enough. But at this point I wouldn't bet on it.
