Samantha I called the scooter rental office, they said any valid drivers license will do. No temporary license necessary. You need your drivers license and a credit card.

I think that Islander may have meant Social Security Card. (am i right?)
In fact, do NOT take a credit card because they will not accept it for payment.
A social security card, however, is a necessity for ANYTHING on this island.

Hello,

Drivers License and Credit Card is what I was told by the customer service person at the scooter office that you needed.

I would assume the credit card is as a security measure... if you destroy the scooter, if you never come back with it....

Onika - I am not sure if they require a social security card - sounds odd - for renting a vehicle. I think Samantha is just visiting the islands, on a cruise... there was a post before this one commenting on that.

I will call again tommorrow and ask what happens if you don't have a credit card, if you can pay a deposit in cash??

My bad, error in reading comprehension, I thought it was yet another drivers license question. As we can see, I still have that on my brain.
Oops.

Hello Samantha,

The credit card is for security reasons. If you don't have a credit card then you will have to pay a $300 cash security deposit - when you return the scooter you will get your $300 back. Alternately you can give a $300 check - again you will receive your check back when you return the scooter.
