I am looking for a pay by the pound Laundry service on STT. I use to pay 1 dollar a pound on STX, and am hoping I can find something like that here. I am sure it will probably be in the city, but oh well. I doubt there is much for drop off Laundry on the East End but I would love to be pleasantly surprised ;).

Any ideas?

You can drop off at AYH --- Limas in Bovoni -- quite a few actually.

My favorite is across from the entrance to NiskyCenter - close to the airport and excellent service -- $1.50 Lb

I use Amir's in Four Winds - his is per load but works out about the same as Limas. Turn around is good.

Nisky is very convenient to work for me, thanks. I will try to track it down on the way to the airport tomorrow.

Thanks

Soap Opera is owned and operated by Walter and Susan Seipel and son Peter -- you will be treated well and they are meticulous.

Who do you recommend for this service on STX?

There's a laundry-mat in Crown Bay Marina as well. I believe they charge $1/pound. We use them from time to time and they're good. If you need fast turnaround they can usually accomodate.

Soap Opera was very rude, and demanded payment when dropping off my laundry. She chewed out a employee in front of me. I left, and went down the street to the Crown Bay Marina that took payment at pick up and was only a 1.00 a pound as apposed to 1.50 a pound. I was polite when I told her that she lost a customer for the season, as I drop off laundry weekly.

I did not have any cash on me, because I had purchased a car that day and maxed out what I could take out of the ATM. I even explained this too the woman. The only reply I got was "we have too many unclaimed clothes." I guess I can understand this, but the chewing out the local assistant was too much for me.

I have been dropping off my laundry for years, and never have I had to pay up front. It is kinda like car service, they have your car. In this case, they have my clothes and all my uniforms.

Crown Bay has a customer for the season.

Wow, I'm surprised. Always was a pleasant atmosphere when I went there to do laundry.

Maybe I caught them on a bad day, or time, everyone has their moments I guess. But, chewing out an employee in front of a customer is unacceptable. Something else I learned when I picked up my clothes from the laundry mat in Crown Bay today is they take credit cards. How rare is that. Not to mention it was cehaper. Even the laundry place I drop my clothes off at in the USA doesn't even take cards.

Island Pilots,

A place that I use that is close to Pineapple and on the way to downtown. I don't rememmber the name but if you are heading east on Smith Bay Road and take the left turn to Tutu mall it is on your left that first block. If I recall TNT is written on the front but the laundry mat is on the side. They have never asked for a deposit, always polite, but usually asked for me to stop the next day to pick up my laundry. Even when I've had to pick it up the next day there was minimal wrinkles. They folded everything warm and packed it flat.

You gotta go with what feels right -- cheaper and polite would get me as a customer too.
