Wondering what the cable/DSL internet access was like on the islands? St. Croix in particular. I telecommute so I would need reliable service. Would love to move to islands!!!! Thanks for any information!

There is no cable internet on STX. There is DSL service, but I'm told that it's outrageously expensive. There is also satellite service which is cheaper on a monthly basis, but has very expensive initial set up costs.
I use a dial-up connection with Earthlink. Works great as long as the phones are functioning. This year (as opposed to two years ago) I've had less of a problem with dropped connections and have been able to stay online as long as 24 hours.

Innovative has ADSL for $50 for the first three months, and $60 thereafter. There is also Choice who does wireless DSL for $99 a month.

Afraid I don't know about DSL in St Croix, but I can tell you that we have DSL in St John - we also have satellite and wireless capabilities
