Hello Brandon,

You might want to scroll to the top of this page and select Moving Guide and there select Employment and read through that information if you have not already. Read the book of moving and living in the USVI - the Settlers Handbook - you can get it from http://www.vitraders.com ... lots of great information on moving to the islands to be found in that book.

The job market depends entriely on what you are qualified to do and what type of job you are looking for. So I have to ask - What type of job are you looking for???

In general... teachers are in high demand, nurses... tourism is a big part of the economy so lots of jobs there... government jobs... and then there are doctors, accountatants, secretaries, taxi drivers, news people, writers, sales people, chemist, biologist, bus drivers, cooks, dish washers... and a whole lot of other jobs... best bet is to indicate to us what you might be looking to do and we can then make suggestions for that line of work.

Islander,
I'm interested in relocating to the islands and have been trying to check out the job market. I came across your suggestions to the message above and you seemed quite informative. Presently, I am a networking connectivity engineer in the state of Vermont. I'm looking to stay in the same field. I have a couple of friends that live on St. John and they are having a great time living in paradise. Any suggestions or directions that you could point me in would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Ryan

I too am very interested in relocating to VI (St Croix) I currently work for a major cable company in the New York Metro area, as a Senior Secretary. My son just graduated from Hight School and now I'm ready for really live. Can someon direct me to a cable company or dish company? I have great references.
