Well, there is a moratorium on new hiring in the government. They are facing an 8% cut in their pay, also. On the other hand, if they need people, they will have to fill jobs. But you should be forewarned that EMTs do not get paid what they get in the states.

It might just be closer to that 27K. .

Unless you have a great govt connection (wink, wink).....your chances of landing a job, fresh out of the states, is very unlikely.

Good luck anyway, here's the govt job board http://www.dopusvi.org/careers.aspx

Okay, I finally looked up the salaries for you. In 2006, the governor had all the government salaries printed in the newspaper. I don't think they have really had a significant raise since then. There were several titles listed: EMT basic ($30-35K), EMT intermediate ($46K), EMT paramedic ($44K), EMT ambulance ($48K), EMT cardiac (one was $42,600 and one was $54,200) and EMT supervisor ($46K). At least that gives you an idea...

A guy I know from the gym came from the states and got on about 1 1/2 years ago or less as a paramedic in an ambulance, working for the hospital. No idea what he makes.
