Hi! So that day has finally come and I am in fact writing this entry from the airport. Will be arriving in STT this afternoon and making my way over to STJ. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone on this message board for the help you have provided. This site has been the best source of information and has made planning for my move that much easier. All the advice was greatly appreciated.

I do have one quick question about getting to STJ. I can take the Ferry from Charlotte Amalie or cab it to red hook and take the ferry from there. I have about 100lbs of luggage with me and wanted to know if one route was easier than the other? Thanks again for any advice.

Jeremy

Either way youll pay for the same for the luggage. Honestly I would just do red hook, its simpler and in my opinion quicker over all than Charlotte. Also Charlotte's ferry only runs at certain times whereas Red Hook is every hour, so more consistant as well.

Welcome to STJ:)

I have now been here one month myself. You will probably see me around (least during happy hour at Castaways or Iguana Grill), My name is Daniel.

Yeah, I wouldn't put my money on the downtown boat. Red Hook is the safer bet. The cost does work out about the same.

Safe journey! Keep us posted and let us know how things work out for you. 🙂

Red Hook ferry. Leaves every hour on the hour. Pretty much on time. If you miss one ferry, you can enjoy a cocktail at Fish Tails (yes, I do work there) or Big Babooze or Fat Boyz, soak up some atmosphere, relax, check out that view!! And welcome to the island.

(With a hundred pounds of luggage to schlep, I think he'll likely be enjoying that drink at the ferry terminal bar instead!)

Don't forget to purchase bag tags when you buy your ferry ticket. You won't get on the boat without 'em. Cost is $2.50 per bag for any bag beyond a backpack that you can hold in your lap.

Thank you all for the advice. I landed at about 1:30 yesterday but my bags were delayed and on the next flight. We left the airport at about 3:20 and I made the 4 PM redhook ferry which I thought was pretty good considering traffic.

Now that I'm here I need to get working on an apt and a job. Anyone know of someone looking for a roomate or looking to sublet on a month to month basis? Ill be stopping by connections this morning to take down some numbers and make a few calls. Also going to stop by the water sports companies to see about possible work. If anyone has any leads on either the apt front or the job front I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jeremy
