Me and friend are moving to the Island in July 08. Im a recent college graduated from Louisiana Tech University. My degree was in Business, so how hard is it to get a job. Im willing to start off in a restraurant and work up. We need as much help as possible so any information on finding jobs would help.

Thank You

John Dooley

Hi, John,

Check the classifieds in the Daily News and Avis, check the Island Trader, check with DOL, read all the stories on the board and post SPECIFIC questions, otherwise you won't get very good answers...remember, we are real people living here, so when you ask "Which island is the best one in which to live?" (grammatically correct? Haha!), you will get many, many opinions...the 'best' is going to the one that suits your needs most and satisfies your desires...they all have great things to offer, it just depends on what your priorities are...VISIT them all first before deciding on one! And put about $5,000 aside for the possibility that island life is not for you...then you can move back without breaking the bank. Probably 80% of the folks that move here end up moving back within 6 months to a year...if you make it longer than that, then you may find yourself here for a LLLOOOOOOOOONNNGGG while! Haha!

Hi, Dooley...I'm originally from the Ruston area. I've been living on St Thomas for a year now. Why are you thinking of moving to the Virgin Islands? It's a BIG difference from North LA, but there are a few of us here from the pelican state. I'd love to hear your story.

Marty gave you the best leads and info -- and that was some real research unless he had it close by.
I feel a one year window to get cash positive after the initial outlay for moving and set up expenses does cause a fair percentage of the moving back.
