I am a paramedic firefighter and have been thinking of moving to the islands. However I am unable to get any information about the local emergency services down there. Do the fire or ems services have web sites, or some other way of contacting them?

Jeff: The EMS services and Fire Department are separate here. They are both territorial government agencies. For Fire, call 340-774-7610 (St Thomas) or 773-8050 (St Croix). Interestingly, I cannot find a number for EMS in the phone book. You might try the Health Commissioner's office at 340-774-0117 and see if you can find a number. I will warn you that the salaries that they would offer you will be peanuts compared to whatever you are getting. Again, the best chance would be visiting in person and talking to them, government offices are not much for taking messages and returning calls.
