Someone told me yesterday that the Government is issuing first time home buyer loans and grants. This is different than the $8,000 2009 grant awarded by the Federal Government. Has anyone heard about this? Apparantly, the woman bought a Vista Mar condo with no money down and the payments are $400/month. I know i'm missing a lot of info and i do intend to talk to the woman who said she did this but i wasn't sure if any of you knew of this kind of assistance loan for 1st time buyers.

Thanks!

There's a government funding program that allows no money down. The catch is you have to buy in certain areas considered rural.
(Which most likely the entire island qualifies)
This although is NOTHING new, they now try to play it off like Obama has invented this program & issued the monies under the restructure America act.................pa-leeze!
The reason I know this program existed pre Obama, my ex husband and I purchased our home on this program.
I wished I remembered more of the details......but it was like 18 yrs ago............there was a write up in the Avis about the funds & how to apply a week or so ago..........

I get real tired of the 'snarky' comments about President Obama. FOX NEWS and Glen Beck and the other right wing crazies at Fox refuse to acknowledge that the Obama administration is working hard to make things better for the American people. You seem to to be carrying their message.

Anyone who checks things out, knows that these and other programs have been around for years. The other myth that the right wing radicals seem to be pushing is that the current administration is "socialist". Any person who takes the time to check, knows that our federal government has been running 'socialist' programs since the late 1930's and that most of them were pumped up during the Reagan administration. I actually think that is a good thing, but if you don't, at least get your facts straight.

Now I'm a "snarky right wing crazies"....................sticks and stones.
Get your facts straight, the Avis had an article in it like frigging OVER a year ago talking the home buying program, (that is for rural communities) & in it, the article stated it was ole Barry's new brilliant plan for restructuring America. I just commented that it wasn't his brain child and the program had been around for years, for them to take credit for it was a farce.
Most people won't do the research & will take happily what is spoon feed to them while drinking the kool-aide.

Cheers!

I don't think anyone objects to your correction of facts. Or even your opinion of the present administration. But you really were "snarky". lol.

free money is just more debt for our children, if there is a United Sates in the future! I realize that the current administration is trying, but I'm not sure that the medicine is worth the possible early death of our county. Over 55% of Americans do not pay federal tax now! And it is climbing. In five years it will be over 60%. Does that worry anyone? I don't agree with the some of EITHER the democrates or republicans or the tea party people. But without a sound financial footing I feel like we are sinking!

Lest anyone be confused, what billd means by, "do not pay federal tax" is that those folks do not earn sufficient income after deductions to have a tax burden. Those Americans still file tax forms for the refund of taxes withheld from any income they earned.

I think that fact is even more frightening. That many people who work, but still do not earn enough to pay taxes.
