Fishing Charter or something similar

My brother in law and his family will be visiting us in March. He is in Iraq now and has a short leave then. He and his three boys would love to go fishing when they are here. I would like to arrange something for them, but the two charters I investigated seemed pretty pricey. I think the two I looked at were around $700-500 for half a day. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I could accomplish this? I don't fish, so I don't know if there are alternatives to the charter or if there are more moderately priced options or whether that's just the standard price for that type of activity. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, KJ

I've never heard of anything cheaper for a fishing charter. Capt Carl usually chgs $600.00 I thought $500 was pretty good. You need to have enough people on the boat to bring the price down.

Also with Carl, you get to keep part of your catch. My friend went out with him in Feb, Caught 2 nice Maui Maui and one huge one. Only got to keep two small bags of catch, two or three pounds. He was a little upset. He even tipped them $60 before he received his part.

Thanks much. I will try the two folks mentioned. I just didn't have any idea regarding cost, but it sounds like the $600-700 range is the going rate.

Makes no sense to me. If you rent the boat you should be able to keep anything you catch.
