I saw some posts en re licenses etc. so my questions are not along those lines but are more functional.

How's the fishing from shore?

Do people actually catch stuff?

What do you catch?

Any suggestions as to where to go to catch anything?

There is some fishing from shore, however boats are the norm. Mostly I see children "handlining" from docks and a few grown ups doing it on the northside. Unless you plan on bringing your own gear, you will have to visit one of the stores to rent gear. They will be able to help more. Not much in the Yellow Pages: www.viphonebook.com Also, this looks like a good outfit: http://www.southof20.com/ Even if you don't go with them, you should be able to call and ask.

Anyone else have any good info for Dennis?

The reason I'm asking is that as part of a relocation I my father-in-law would be coming with us and he likes to fish. He'll be bringing some gear with him. But given his age going out on a major deep sea thing wouldn't be up his alley. Rather, fishing from shore with the prospect of catching something every now and again would be sufficient.

In that context, any info?

I see folks fishing off the dock here at Gregorie East with some success. I don't know what they are catching. I have also seen men surf fishing off some of the northside beaches (not the tourist areas). How old is dad? Some of the off shore fishing trips are not marathon adventures 🙂

Thanks for the info:

He's rather frail at this point. Pier fishing or somewhere that's not a marathon or Everest expereince is what's needed. Sounds as though there's something for him.

When he was in good health he enjoyed fishing. I thought it would make the move more enjoyable for him if he could do some of his old hobies, and year round too.
