Fleming and VI Cargo for vehicle shipping

I apologize if this was covered elsewhere, but I haven't been able to find it using the search function (yes, even if I change it to more than 30 days! ;)). And besides, it would be great to hear from someone who's done this in the past several months, since things change!

I've been doing my homework on shipping two vehicles to STX when I move in July. I've heard great things about both Fleming and VI Cargo. Fleming will apparently take the vehicle straight from my driveway here in Phoenix all the way through the DMV on STX, and they're a couple hundred cheaper than VI Cargo. Seems like a no-brainer. Am I missing something? Also, are there any other companies I should call and get estimates from? And are the time estimates from shipping companies reliable, or are they best case scenarios? (Doesn't matter... just would like to know in advance.) And they all have the same road tax and customs fees, right? I'm assuming that should be the same across the board.

Is it really worth $590 to have the licensing and DMV stuff done by the transport company? I've heard about some DMV nightmares, but I'd be willing to sit there all day to save that kind of money! Is there a "how to" for this spelled out somewhere?

Lots of questions... sorry. Thanks for your help!

See the link below, someone on this board said Managed Freight was no longer in business. I may be wrongly thinking that Lee Fleming and Managed Freight are one and the same.

On STT, we always hire the BMV activities out as more of a convenience than anything else.

Flemming is not Lee Flemming, it is Barry Flemming. Same family.
How much are they charging you for the service? I think I paid about $100 three years ago plus the DMV fees.

I had my car shipped through Top-of-the-line, they were great and contracted out to have my car picked up in San Diego and taken all the way through the DMV process on Island. It was fantastic to have somebody else doing the leg-work on that for me 'cause I really would've been lost if I had to do it myself.
Worth the extra cost IMHO.

Flemings did an amazing job for us. We moved here from Ohio in January and they cleared customs, tagged both vehicles, delivered one to the airport so I could get home, and delivered the other directly to the house here on STX. Great people... highly recommended!

What did y'all pay to ship your cars- shipping, licensing, everything?

We paid (including customs, road tax and tags) $4,439.36 for a 2005 Chevy Avalanche and $2,581.40 for a 2003 Jeep Liberty to have them shipped here from Ohio in January. They delivered the Jeep to the airport and the Avalanche to the house. Worth every penny, in my opinion!
