I only saw a few items that seemed really high priced to me. Many item are much lower than Schooner. Most items were just a few cents or a dollar more than at Pueblo or Plaza. I'm happy with it. They will be getting more produce in over the next few weeks. David will bring in the fish but it will not be "the Basic Butcher". He said that he will keep it simple until he gets a feel for what/how much people want from that location.

I personally think it's smart to start out slow. Good luck to them, the east end certainly needs an alternative to Schooner Bay.

Schooner Bay looked open today with a free coffee offer to entice shoppers back in but I won't be back. Knowing that they only run the generator when the business is open and not over night makes me worry about food safety. You should be worried too.

The most important thing is if they have the same chocolate selection as Food Town.

JI stopped by Food Fair today to check them out and I left pleased.

As others have said it is smaller inside than Food Town - more like a corner grocery. But I was impressed with the selection they fit in such a small space. They have single rows of many grocery items so just about all your basics and some luxuries are covered. Great wine, liquor, and beer selection for the size as well.

Produce area is small. I asked where it was and they showed me one case that held dairy and produce items. So the selection is less, but you could make a salad or mashed potatoes or whatever. But not brussel sprouts, haha!

Full freezer section, lots of ice cream! And a large candy section too up front. The seafood counter will open at Thanksgiving time, they told me.

Something neat is they have these deep shopping baskets that you can either carry by the handle, or it has a pull handle like luggage you extend and pull it on wheels behind you. They're pretty cool and take up much less space than shopping carts.

Full staff and eager to help me. So far so good, I say. This is an asset to those of us out east.
