St Croix gas watch

(tu)Nice little website there! Wish someone would dedicate the time & effort to do a similar one for STT/STJ.

That is part of it. They also account for hauling from STT to STJ. It's always been more here than on St. Thomas, but as of recently, it's quite a bit more. The addition of the second gas station did nothing to drive the price down. I personally think that the location of the second gas station (Racetrack) was just dumb. I've never even been to it because it's a tight spot and would rather go to E & C where it's easier to get in and out of and isn't located on a steep road.

LOTS of money is being made.. "hand over fist" as it were... makes perfect sense to me.

The fact that all gas stations change at the same time, on the same day to the same price tells you everything you need to know.

corruption!

Maybe in your area but certainly not on STT.

Cluster-location related no doubt but if you travel between town, country, East end and North side there's always a difference in price with some stations always higher than others. If they all changed, "at the same time, on the same day to the same price" there wouldn't be the frequent discussions on this forum on"today's best gas prices".

I noticed huge price variations the last time I came from the airport on STT (late September). Thought it was a bit odd that there was 20¢ price difference between locations. But I guess they can charge whatever they want. We don't have many options on St. John. But if I was taking my car over to STT on the barge I certainly wouldn't fill up on St. John before I left and would be sure to fill up on STT before I came back.

I paid 2.98 today in Frenchtown - tonight I heard an interesting discussion between a few old timers who said the reason some stations always charge a higher price is that those stations accept VI Government vouchers - they don't want to sell gas cheaper.

Well geeze, that does make sense! And I would imagine that applies here on STJ since we don't really have many options. I actually am not too upset about the higher prices on ST. John. Back when it was only E & C, I suppose they could have charged pretty extravagant prices if they chose. Having to take the barge to get gas on STT would have been a real bummer. The car rental companies would have been screwed if we lost our only gas station. They don't even let their vehicles go to STT in most if not all cases.
