Thanks Julie - Anyway you could post a photo of the whole article? I can't find anything about it on line.

Maybe everyone is just tired of having this and other issues in their faces constantly. When was the last time you saw a heterosexual pride parade? Maybe we should have one marching down the street chanting "we're straight, no debate".

Ever seen anyone posting here stating "we're a heterosexual couple looking for friends"? No. Why not?

I think if heterosexuals truly didn't care about homosexuality, then the issue of not allowing homosexuals to marry would be a non-issue, and everyone would be allowed to live their lives and love who they love however they chose. Homosexuals would not be targeted and the subject of not only mental and social abuse, but physical abuse and even murder. However this is not the case, so yes, people are going to raise their voices until they aren't treated as second-class citizens.

This also means that homosexuals looking for other homosexual couples as friends might be not only looking for friends, they might also be looking for friends they can be safe with, and share some common ground. Just like anyone else. This seems so obvious to me I'm amazed I'm even typing it out.

I find the people that express the most outrage about pride parades and so on have internal struggles of their own with homosexuality and judgment thereof. It's generally a good sign of a need for self-reflection on why that person is so bothered by it.

I STILL can't believe its 2014 and people are still arguing about this. Holy crap I'm imbarassed for our species.

And if you got to read some of the comments I saw on Senator Buckley's photo, I would be very afraid to be "out" as a homosexual in the VI. People openly advocating euthanasia and murder. I know people tend to talk on social media in ways they wouldn't in public, but a lot of those comments showed a deep undercurrent of intolerance and hate in some people.

Or maybe we just prefer to live by the guidelines that God designed for "our" species!

So God didn't create homosexuality? Or he did, but he did it just to screw with millions of people and make their lives torment?

Either way, that God is kinda a jerk. I choose not to worship that God, kthnx.

By the way, those that throw stones need to look to their own glass houses first, if they advocate 100% biblical literacy and compliance. Hypocrisy and hate are not "Christian" qualities.

I don't have any "internal struggles" with it. I still don't see an answer to my question. Maybe if their presence wasn't announced no one would notice.
P.S. All the bible thumpers explain how two homosexuals procreate the species.

Just like if black people kept their heads down in the 60s no one would have had an issue with them? I mean, having to listen to others speaking up asking to be treated equally is a waste of time for the people that already have those rights by virtue of birth, right?

Thanks Julie - I'm glad this is starting to come out as a debate. It'll happen sooner rater than later with each state's ban falling and the overturn of section 3 of DOMA.

We should also look at it as a money revenue possibility for the cash strapped territory as well... Many want destination weddings and that's a big market to tap for the US market.

100% agree. That is actually one of the premises of Senator Buckey's bill - that same-sex destination weddings would be a big money maker for the VI. That is a huge market.

In many states, interracial marriage was illegal until 1967. I'm sure there was a biblical excuse for this as well.

Why is marriage any business of our government? If two (or more) consenting adults want to marry then why shouldn't they be allowed to? Why does our government treat us differently based on whether we are married or not? Is a married couple somehow better than two single people? Why should there be different tax treatment for married couples versus two single people living together?

Why is monogamy ok but polygamy wrong? Why shouldn't people be allowed to live their lives free and as they wish if all are adults and all are consenting?

Why should our lifestyle choices be limited to only those sanctioned by our government? Who made them god? lol. 😉

This is devolving into Coconut Tree territory, but I'm with A&A - it's quite sad that it's 2014 and this is some kind of 'debate'. At least humankind keeps moving in the right direction, even if enlightenment moves at a turtle's pace sometimes. The VI is certainly not unique in this aspect.

"Maybe everyone is just tired of having this and other issues in their faces constantly. When was the last time you saw a heterosexual pride parade? Maybe we should have one marching down the street chanting "we're straight, no debate".

I haven't posted in a while, had medical issues, medical discharge from the army etc....
But GL, when was the last time you had your ass beat for being straight? When was the last time you were kept from getting a job or promotion for being straight? When was the last time your kids were picked on or beat up in school because you're straight? Your point about straights not having a straight parade is F'ing ridiculous at best.

And MossquittoBait, if you are using the bible as your excuse for " living as god intended" or whatever your point is,
then allow me to say this.
I hope you are not wearing two different types of cloth, or eat shellfish, or go near your wife or girlfriend while she is menstruating. And if you have a girlfriend, please tel me you don't have premarital sex. Because if you do ANY of those things, I am buying a ticket tomorrow and am going to gather a huge ole of stones, bury you neck deep on the beach and practice my pitching.

About 10 years ago on Labor day weekend in New Jersey my friend and I were riding for a few hours in the heat. We were near Greenwood Lake and stopped in a bar for a cold one. Turns out it was a gay bar. They beat us withy their purses, wrote "straight asshole" on us with their lipstick and threw us out in the street!

I really don't care what you people do on your own, just quit whining and complaining and trying to force your dysfunctional lifestyle on the rest of us who are not interested. It's sad that young innocent children can be exposed to this, confusing them on what is normal and proper. Keep it to yourself and quit bitching!

Wow! Just wow! Normal and Proper? Says who?
You don't care what these people do as long as they hide somewhere and don't show themselves. Spoken like a true biblically backed moron!

I think all people who think like this should be neutered. What do you think?

A visiting professor at Florida State University is giving a seminar on the supernatural. To get a feel for his audience, he asks: "How many people here believe in ghosts?" About 90 students raise their hands.

"Well that’s a good start. Out of those of you who believe in ghosts, do any of you think you’ve ever seen a ghost?" About 40 students raise their hands.

"That’s really good. I’m really glad you take this seriously. Has anyone here ever talked to a ghost? 15 students raise their hands.

"That’s a great response. Has anyone here ever touched a ghost?" Three students raise their hands. "That’s fantastic. But let me ask you one question further.....Have any of you ever made love to a ghost?" One student in the back raises his hand. The professor is astonished. He takes off his glasses, takes a step back, and says, "Son, all the years I’ve been giving this lecture, no one has ever claimed to have slept with a ghost. You’ve got to come up here and tell us about your experience."

The redneck student replies with a nod and a grin, and begins to make his way up to the podium.

The professor says, "Well, tell us what it’s like to have sex with a ghost." The student replies, "Ghost? Damn..... From back there I thought you said ’goats’!"

With my way of thinking, the pieces of the puzzle fit properly and look correct, the way the "maker" intended, with your way, you have to force them together and they never quite look right... do they?

Wait, you don't care about what "people" do on their own, yet you judge those "people" as a "dysfunctional" lifestyle?

Pot = kettle = black.

Seriously, find something else to feel superior about other than your in-born sexual orientation.

Btw, children don't change their sexual orientation as a result of exposure. Numerous studies after studies show that preference is inborn.
