$178 a day for feeding the little despot? And that's not including the other food service staff, cleaners, dishwashers, _or_ the food itself, _or_ the cost of the facility, electric, gas, etc?

Wow.

Next time I write the VI Government a $100 check I'll remember that I just bought our "supreme leader" a toasted bagel.

On the other hand, when his mouth is full with food, he isn't lying to us. So I guess that is good.

Great year for the Henderson family! A sports complex named after their patriarch, a cushy gig for Emile (that he was not qualified for) and a luxurious gig for the matriarch.

No it doesn't. It's business as usual. Not surprising in the least.

Monarch Mapp does it again:

http://viconsortium.com/politics/mapps-2016-budget-request-includes-increased-travel-expenses-three-new-limousines-an-executive-chef-and-more/

MAPP’S 2016 BUDGET REQUEST INCLUDES INCREASED TRAVEL EXPENSES, THREE NEW LIMOUSINES, AN EXECUTIVE CHEF AND MORE

Does he realize he was elected as a public servant and not a king ascending his throne? Let's see how much money he'll burn thru of taxpayer money. If he wants to pay $65K for a private chef, it should come out of his salary. I've heard of "perks" but frankly this is going all too far. He plans on spending his tenure living in the lap of luxury and milking us and for all he can get.

Wonder what the Ritz Carlton bill was for his and his staffs recent stay in NY? I, for one, am disgusted.

In The article it said progress was made in 2013 tax refunds. It takes that long to get your refund. That is island time at it's finest. I guess with accomplishments like that he should be treated like a king.

Lt. Gov Osbert Potter wants to follow in Mapp's footsteps by getting free housing too when he already has a home on STT. Will it never end!?!

I read that last night...absolutely disgusting! When will it stop? How can we, as VI citizens help to stop it?? I have asked the advice of former Senator Buckley (who I know personally) as to whom I need to reach out to. I have written to 2 senators expressing my concerns with all of this and the apathy as far as helping small businesses stay alive (and thrive?!) on this island and my extreme concerns on the state of STX (since I am a resident here now after having been a resident of STT for 8 years). What else? Anyone???

Write letters to the editor of local news publications and write, email or call your senators. This free for all spending of Mapps has to stop.
He was elected as governor and a public servant, not as a king of all he surveys. He is acting as tho he (and his cronies) are entitled to live luxuriously at our expense while the taxpayers continue to tighten their belts and live within their limited budget constraint and pay for his excesses.

Here's what Sen. Gittens had to say in this Daily News article:
http://m.virginislandsdailynews.com/news/senate-drills-for-answers-on-villa-mapp-lease-1.1910563
Sen. Kenneth Gittens was blunt.

"As I sit here, what comes to mind is I'm truly embarrassed as a Virgin Islander. I want you all to know, if you're not thinking it, that the world is watching us today," he said. "Historical and traditional practices like this one, if it were any place else, would have landed somebody's behind in jail."

Amen to that!
Hope it will land someone's behind in jail.
This is a travesty!

See the comments below this article: http://viconsortium.com/politics/31st-legislature-subpoenas-randolph-knight-to-appear-before-senate/

"Hey EverBody!! I found the Minutes of the WICO board of directors meeting and Im Going to share them, the following dialogue was captured at the WICO Board meeting:"

I read that!

It's going to be an interesting hearing when Randy Knight shows up to testify before the senators as directed by subpoena.

Re: Justifican by Bennett on Housing the Lt. Governor:

http://viconsortium.com/politics/mapp-administration-says-security-concerns-led-to-potters-condo-rental/

"Gittens, however, was not buying Bennett’s argument: “You all continue to talk about precedents being set,” said Gittens. “Those things on the main land and elsewhere land people in jail."

Plain and simple "hogwash," IMO.

Here's Osbert's new digs at Mahogany Run that we taxpayers get to pay for.

http://virginislandsdailynews.newspaperdirect.com/epaper/iphone/homepage.aspx?#_article0d7d7887-a7d1-4df2-aaa7-4e9a7b8ec21b/waarticle0d7d7887-a7d1-4df2-aaa7-4e9a7b8ec21b/0d7d7887-a7d1-4df2-aaa7-4e9a7b8ec21b/0/true

BTW, there's no way Osbert will be satisfied with spending only
$5-$7K for furnishings as the apt. is rented unfurnished and we know Mapp's team wants luxury. That amount will surely not suffice.
Wait and see!

Don't worry folks. Since Potter now has a vacant house, I'm sure that it will be rented out and the money given to the GVI to balance out the rent cost.

And the condo furnishings will be sold when the condo is vacated, so we'll get some of that money back too!

That concludes today's lesson in Unreality 101.

Here's a good one:

Governor Kenneth Mapp said on AM radio on Monday afternoon that he’s currently living “out of a suitcase” while in the territory’s capital, again reminding the listening audience that, “I am the only governor in a state capital that does not have a home to reside out of any other governor, and for all intents and purposes, I’m the homeless governor.”

While he racks up bills at RITZ Carlton. The man has no shame!
