Government that works

So many people here take cheap swipes at the government, and sometimes rightly so, but I want to share with you how government can and does work for you. My son was born with a chromosomal defect. With his condition and his 6 week premature birth we expected some developmental delays. We had originally sent him to a speech therapist here on our dime until the fine staff at his preschool told us about the Infant and Toddlers Program under the Department of Health. Our boy has been in the program for almost a year now and his speech, cognitive abilities and social abilities have increased tremendously. The people who run this program are the most professional, thorough, and caring people in government I have dealt with in my life, including Stateside. So I just want people.to remember that government can work if administered by the right people and "non essential" spending to some is essential to others.

Not sure anyone said all aspects of the government were horrible or that they couldn't run well

Positive I didn't say anyone said that either. It was a positive story about government working instead of the constant bemoaning of their ineptitude.

Thanks for posting. Not every government agency is dysfuctional, and many government employees really care. Glad to hear your son is progressing.

You should send a "Halo" notice to Daily News so they get public recognition.

There have been numerous positive stories abiut government agencies.

Maybe I just thought you implied that.

Will do..
Now that he is transitioning to the Head Start program he is almost back on par with the kids of his age and is even ahead of his age in certain categories. Speech is his biggest stumbling block still. The people in the Head Start program are very good thus far too
