My wife and I are considering re-locating to St. Thomas. We are concerned that we won't be able to find work in our fields though. I am a Sr. Web Designer and my wife is a Sr. Graphic designer. Anyone have ideas on our prospects?

If you come down with enough money to keep going for 6 months, you will probably find work. It may not be exactly what you are used to, it may not pay as much as you want, but that is the way of the VI. Good luck!

hi Jordan

You should do fine on St. Thomas, business is booming with the construction of the new marine center, etc. There are several agencies on STT: Austin Advertising ( http://www.austin.vi/), Infinity Plus One Advertising + Design 776.4747 and MLB Creative 774.8478. You could join the Advertising Club of the Virgin Islands which is a great way to network. Also, if you are thinking of going the freelance route, I would say that word of mouth goes a long way in the VI and once you get one client, more will follow. (I live on STX and used to freelance, now I work for an EDC company and still freelance on the side) Other options are the Daily News, they were actually advertising for a graphic artist recently, pay range was $12 - $16 hour. I don't know what the other agencies pay. Anyway, good luck!!!!!
