Great Visit to STX

It was our first visit (wife and I) and we couldn't have had a better time. Driving on the left was relatively easy and the people there are just amazing! We came down on the 3rd, experienced our first power outage, severe rain, and the rest of the week was great. Food prices crazy, definitely had to shop around, almost all of the restaurants we went to were excellent. Some of the ones we wanted to go to, were closed till mid October, oh and it was HOT, but felt great. We went to the rib cook off on Sunday and did various other things during the week. The one thing my wife and I commented on frequently was how friendly you all were. We didn't meet anyone who wasn't willing to talk and willing to give us advice on living there. Not always good and what we wanted to hear, but not all bad either. From bartenders to CPA's, everyone was warm and welcoming. Now if we could just fix the roads, add a few road signs, your island would be perfect. Actually it is, I can see why people want to move down, and why people leave, but maybe we'll give it a try someday. Maybe we met some of you on this forum, if so, thanks for making this one of the best weeks my wife and I had while away from where we call home for now. 🙂

This is my first post, though I've been lurking a while. We are also here for our first exploratory trip. The people we interacted with at the airport were very rude, but everyone we've met since has been nice. I'm still not sure about "left turn on red" but the locals certainly only give you a couple of seconds to go.

I certainly agree about the roads and the signs:-) As a visitor the 4x4 is a must. If I lived here I'm sure I would know which roads were really bad and avoid them. But where's the fun.
