Does anyone know how to go about fostering Haitian children or a family? I have researched every day since the earthquake and cannot find a way to do this. Does anyone have any contact information?

Hi,
Here is the link regarding adoption requirements from Haiti that is posted on the US State Department website:

http://www.adoptions.state.gov/country/haiti.html

Hope that helps, Kim

are you interested in fostering a haitian child tami? i think thats great if you are. i am past my "prime" for that sort of thing. Sure the gov't will make it difficult and the poor children will just sit and sit for years. GOOD LUCK!!

Dixie you are never past your prime.8-) Seriously I am 51 with a 6 year old. Yes, we were looking at fostering but there is a complete shut down in Haiti on adoption and fostering unless you already had paperwork in. Ten people were just arrested for trying to take some orphans out of the country. I have found some other options on helping the children but it will take a while.

those poor kids need homes now not 5 years from now or even 5 months. all the dumb paper work while they lie and fester. makes me boil. i know they have to make sure they go to good homes but get the agencies working over time to help those kids who are wanted go to good homes.

i hate to think how many will end up abused or on the slave market....

I agree that the children need help now. But I think it has to be done in haiti, otherwise you are wide open to abuse.

But on another note, how stupid are these 10 people who thought they could just snatch up 33 kids and take them out of the country without any paperwork or permission? What do they say about good intentions,,, oh yeah, they pave the road to hell.
