Hi All, Moving to STx in April-just got quote from movers for moving what we thought was a minimal amt of stuff from Minnesota. Nearly had a heart attack-any good tips for making this move affordable? I will have job but new employer not paying for move. Thanks!

US Postal Service can make things more affordable. We shipped like 20-25 boxes of stuff that way parcel post way in advance. Only 1 box got damaged (and no the insurance won't really help, but we take it anyway as it seems to help with theft). I can't remember the exact amount of money we spent but figure $60/box so between $1200-1500 dollars for most of our smaller stuff.

Hope this helps.

Sean

Just bring what you need. Bring your memories, hobbies, computer equipment, cameras, clothes, etc. Leave your furniture, etc behind in storage. Most places are furnished. Otherwise there's not really a cheap way that i've heard of.
