on STX...We love our DISHTV -- we get the local Network feeds from NYC and LA,
both some HD and SD regular (110 and 119) on a single 1 meter dish with offset
horns. All protected when the storm shutter as closed on the condo.

Quote goodtogo "I'm waiting for a LED TV"

You'll want HD with a new LED TV.

Are you sure of that? I heard from a neighbor who was a Choice customer that Choice worked with DirecTV to deliver either the U.S. standard package or they customize the typical DirecTV Latin package as almost all their content will be in English. However, I've asked them for a contact at DirecTV who set this up and I still haven't got anything so the details could be off.

Does your neightbor have Direct now?

When you get an answer from Direct, please post.

The "more english" story does not add up. The USVI market is too small to pay for the satellite space necessary to deliver exclusive content.

Sky, I have dish on STT and love it. I only pick up sat 119 with my dish. How do I get the others that are talked about 110, 118 & 85. Do I need a dish farm?

I haven't caught up to the neighbor as the information came through the wifes network and the wives have been in the mainland with kids since school got out (husband was clueless like me.)

I did finally find the number Choice advertised for DirecTV installation. When I called they said people who ordered had their credit cards charged as long as 2-3 months ago and are still awaiting installation. They recommended I call Dish!

I should also note that the times I've called DirecTV-PR I usually get bounced around until I get to someone who says they'll call me back and I never get a returned call. I tried the U.S. based DirecTV and they are referring me to one of the 3 Latin America offices (includes PR) so I think it'll be Dish for me afterall which is great for HD but I really will miss the NFL package...whine whine.

GoodtoGo,
I too recommend you call a local dishnetwork dealer. I'm hearing horror stories about Direct! We're starting a list of channels that Dishnetwork offers that Direct doesn't and will post it soon. Looks like several hundred tho. Called Direct and they could not answer questions. Just wanted a CC# to sign us up. Did find out NO DVR and NO HD. Several channels in spanish.
PM me for info on STX or on STT / STJ pm Sloop.

Amodford,
You can get 119/110/and 118.5 on one dish if it's the proper size. Consult with Sloop who has contributed to this thread.
119 is core programming and 75% of the movie channels. 110 gets you the balance of the core programming and movie channels. 110 also carries the VI HD pac. 118.5 is strictly for international programming. 61.5 requires an additional 6 ft dish for more HD.

I'm actually on a chat with an agend from the PR office now (took forever but someone finally responded.) I just learned they have no HD - very surprised. I'm trying to find out if they have NFL package but I suddenly got a reply in Spanish which doesn't address my question - I think they're checking. I didn't know they can't provide DVR service here either. I was looking forwad to stopping monthly payments for my Tivos.

It doesn't look like DirecTV is an option at all - too bad for me. Dish is great from what I've seen except I can't see my team play. Oh well...

I'm a lifetime Pats fan. I kept my DirecTV subscription active in Seattle just so I can at least see the games via computer but I don't think I'll continue as it's a bit ridiculous to pay for a year of sat service and then several hundred for the NFL package to watch jumpy online video (if we had faster internet connections on the island it would look better but still be hard for me to justify.)

With Dish you will get the networks from NY and San fran.in SD and Chicago or LA in HD.
I would think NY would show Pats games?

I know of a few that have told Dish they "moved" to New England and they get NESN.
