Does anyone have any info on obtaining health insurance on STT? I have looked through the site and can't find anything. Thanks!

hi there, just wanted to warn everybody again about Amedex. (I posted something awhile ago)

If you are considering getting coverage with Amedex, ASK the insurance agent about the 90 day exclusion for new illnesses....ie. if you get sick within the first 90 days, that illness is NOT covered.

My husband's employer switched from United to Amedex and we did not get the "contract" from our insurance agent until a month later. Meanwhile, he was diagnosed with glaucoma. And since the diagnosis was within the first 90 days of the coverage, Amedex would NOT cover either the doctor appointment or the medication. (which is $126 for a tiny bottle). Imagine if he was diagnosed with cancer, nothing would be covered!!! Fortunately now he is on my employer's insurance and we are back with United, so his glaucoma meds are covered.

So buyer beware. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

I have been researching "travel health insurance" on the internet. I have found several companies/policies for health insurance while traveling abroad. I am coming to STT for the season and want something to cover the major emergency stuff (i.e. broken bone, etc.). One company I am considering is Atlas International. Does anyone know anything about this company or can recommend another?

Thanks,
Amy
