Hi everyone

I have 2 friends who are visiting STX for the power swim next week - they are renting a villa on a beach with 2 other couples who are also swimming. They don't know where the villa is but they can see Buck Island 🙂

They have asked me for suggestions of thing to do while on STX - great restaurants and "must see/do" places and activities - so I turn to you for help as, even though I live on STJ I have never (as of yet) visited STX - any help you can offer is much appreciated.

They leave on Thursday and the swim I believe is Sunday - they will be here for a week.

Thanks everyone

Pia

Power swim. The Buck Island to Buccaneer 5 mile swim? Great event. They are looking for people to volunteer as kayak spotters. Call 712-2100 and ask for Matt H. It's a great reason to be in the water and there are some fantastic athletes (local and beyond) that swim. Some of these are kids - some in their 70's and 80's! It's always amazing to be on the beach when they come swimming in.

Even if you don't volunteer - come to watch the fun! www.swimrace.com

That's it Linda - they are flying in from Kansas City to participate and are soooo excited - I wish I could be there as well to watch but it's not in the cards this year.

Hi Pia,

They can take a tan tan tour where a guide takes you all over the island in a jeep. The tour is informative and you learn a great deal about the island. There is a full day or half day.

Tour the forts, both Christiansted and Fredricsted.

The Divi Carina has mocko jumbies and a fire eater on Friday nights I believe.

Hotel on the Cay has a beach barbecue with mocko jumbies and music on Tuesdays.

The Domino Club, Norma's, has the beer drinking pig and her famous drink mama wanna.

Salt River kayak tour.

Crab races on Friday nights at Deep End Bar and restaurant. They also have crab races at Cheeseburgers on Wednesdays and one other night downtown somewhere.

Whim museum.

Botanical gardens.

There are various places to rent jet skis.

Buck Island snorkeling trip. Other boats have trips to buck island as well.

That is all I can think of for the moment.
