Are there any hiking trails in STX, and/or a link to maps? I figure there must be descent hiking in the rain forest. I will be there in 9 days, and am trying to line up some activities so I dont spend the whole time in bars (not that that is so bad).

It's a nice hike from Carambola to the tide pools of Anally bay. Don't know of any maps.

We've always liked/used Ras Lamumba Coriette..I think it's called Ay Ay Tours. The Sea (environmental assn) has his # if it's not in the book. Depends on if you want just a hike, or plant/ history/ etc info as well...

Wow, this sounds great. Since I bought land 2 years ago on STX I really want to learn as much as I can. I googled Ras and read some great reviews of his tours. So, I just called him (340-772-4079) to see if he was still around and giving tours. Yes, he is.

The hike into an through Jack and Issac's bay is good, nice scenery, views and beautiful secluded beaches.
You can get there from the Cramer park side neat the radio telescope or from point Udall or from the Grape Tree Bay side. There is a STX Hicking Club.

There is an easy hike on the west end up to an old lighthouse. I understand there is a geocache up there as well. Great view when you get to the top.
