Home health nursing?

Hi. My husband and I have been considering a move for years and are finally getting to the point where we would like to get serious. I am currently a Home Health nurse, for patients through the medicaid program. Does home health work the same way there? My long term goal has allways been to open my own home health company and it would be great to someday be able to do it there. In the meantime I hope I would be able to find work for another company there? Thanks!

Hello there;
I myself am in the early stages of researching Travel Nursing staffing agencies to the USVI to do at least an assigment there before making my final decision to move. My specialty is 8 yrs in Emergency Nursing , with 3 years of Home Infusion Nursing experience in New England (MA & CT). I've seen some Home Health traveling positions which may be a good start with a pre move visit for you as well....And who knows, maybe when all goes well and you're up & running you may have a couple of us willing to join in long term goal, depending on what we find when we get settled. Keep me in mind 🙂
Best of luck to you and your husband with these plans.

Seaview Home Health always needs nurses. They provide services on St Thomas (775-1660) and St Croix. Continuum provides home hospice and home infusion on St Thomas (714-2273) and St Croix. On St Thomas, you can also check with Premiere (home health) and La Paz (home hospice.) We could really use a free-standing hospice, but the concept of hospice is a difficult one for people here.

BellaLuna: The pay sources are Medicare and insurance for home health. The VI department of Health provides some home health services for those who do not qualify for Medicare, but it is pretty bare bones. The Medicaid/Medical Assistance program here is very confusing. Because we are a territory and not a state, the cost sharing basis is different.
