Housing on STT?

I'm noticing that the rental houses on STX seem to be a lot cheaper (and easier to find!) than on STT. Is that because STT is the "business" island and the others are more vacation?

Anyone know of a good source for 3/2s on STT? Or will I need to talk to a realtor?

STT has more business/tourism than STX, though the local populations are about evenly divided.

Many rentals on STT are found by word of mouth. The other primary source for rentals is the weekly Island Trader, which is online here: http://islandtrader.vidaily.com/

Ooh, very helpful! Thanks, dntw8up!

I presume the Island Trader is also available in hard copy at shops and such? I'll look for one when we get there.

STX has always been a little cheaper then STT but since Hovensa had its last big layoff and cut and reduction in their per diems our rental market has really been struggling. Its not the norm for stx, its usually hard to find a good rental here too. 🙂 So its a nice change for renters and a wake call for landlords to spruce up their units and price competitively in a renter's market.

I had complaint about the website not being updated back in December.
I was told back then that there were not enough interest from the vendors to support the expenses to put it on the website.
Then next thing you know, who-la - it was on the website.
Maybe the person who is responsible for the update is on long vacation?
Nothing etched in stone - this is island way.
If you are not on the island, you just have to be patient and wait and hope for the best.
(good training for when you actually are on the island - having a patience)
If you are on the island, of course you can pick up a copy at various places and it is FREE.
I am hoping that tomorrow, they will update. (keeping my fingers crossed)

Good morning:
Yes, that is correct sail2wind.
It should be out on the island this morning - every Thursday.
you can go to vwww.vidaily.com and sign up for electronic version without a cost and you can go to classified and they list some.
But island trader is much better, I think.
Maybe by tomorrow, they will update the web version of the island trader with current one?
Sure hope so!!
