I'm coming in October and already have a job. I haven't found anything online like classified ads for rentals or roommates wanted. It that only available once I get there?

Re-read you question... you will not find classifieds for apartments on-line or classifieds for roommates wanted. The daily newspaper for St. Thomas has some of their classifieds on their site but definately not all of them and the Island Trader is the paper with the large number of classifieds in it anyway - and they are not online. The St. Croix paper doesn't have classifieds online...

You should read the housing section of the moving guide on this site for information.

Yes once you get here then you can check out apartments, stay in a short term rental or hotel for a couple days while you find a place.

Depending on the island you are moving to the availability of apartments differs.

For St. Thomas you will find the most apartment for rent ads in the Island Trader. You will want to look at the apartment prior to renting anyway. So as Islander said, get a short term rental for a few weeks until you find the "perfect" apartment. Check out Villa Fairview or www.stthomasvirginisland.com for short term rentals.

Looks like I'll just spend a week finding the right place after I get there. Thanks for the reply. I keep running into this little wall 'I'll help you, sure' is what they're saying, but 'I'll believe you're coming when I see it' is what I hear. Not unusual - I live in a resort town too, and know what that's like. It's just hard to be on the receiving end of it sometimes. That's why it's nice to hear back from someone. It's already snowing in Telluride!! Can't wait to get back to the islands.

Hello
I am moving to St.Thomas and I need an two bedrm -two bath apt that is not furnished.
I have been on the computer every day it seems that all I have seen are home for vacations. I would like to find something around the Redhook area since that is where I will be working.

I will be coming to St. Thomas on July 6th to see if I can locate something, However any help would be greatly appreciated.
I will not need the apartment till end of October.

I see that this thread is from an original post back on Sept 6, 2003, and since then the Virgin Island Daily News has added a link to the Island Traders newspaper, which has apartment listings, in addition to letting you read the entire paper online!

Here is the link to Island Trader: http://83.138.169.18/Openpagesuite.aspx?pubid=115
