How do you contact DirecTV in USVI?!?!*!!

Does anybody have a working number to use for DirecTV in the USVI? I've tried on and off for the past few weeks. I received a number (1-340-719-5416) from DirecTV in Puerto Rico but it is never a working number. I tried with them again today and they gave me another non-working number (1-284-499-3912.)

Does anybody have a real number? Who offers DirecTV here? I found reference online to a firm called 'Satellite on Demand' but couldn't find any contact information for them locally.

More to the point - does anybody know if the HD-compatible receivers used in the U.S. work here? I read somewhere that the dishes won't but then someone at work suggested I pull the 5-LNBs off my dish in the U.S. and bring them here for whatever dish is used.

Anybody have insight to share?

Thanks!

The only DirecTV available in the USVI is DirecTV Latin America. They use different satellites and different receivers from the ones used in the states. They offer no HD.

Only Dish network offers HD down here. We use the same satellites and receivers as in the states. A bigger dish is required. No HD networks are available but quite a few HD channels.

What do you mean no HD networks but HD channels? Like no Fox HD but maybe Food Network HD?

I mean no HD version of ABC,CBS,NBC,FOX or PBS.

Yes, you can get Food Network, HGTV, Discovery HD Theater, HBO, Showtime, lots of sports and many others.

Thanks.

I may have to end up with 2 different providers but I think I must have DirecTV as it's the only way to see my favorite NFL team from what I've heard.

Does anybody have a number or know the name of the company that provides DirecTV in STX or any other part of USVI?

Thanks.

It would appear that Satellite on Demand has closed there doors. They were next to Plaza Extra in United Shopping Center. They no longer answer the phone either.
I can help you with Dishnetwork but I don't sell DirecTV. You would get your networks from Atlanta and San Fran.

HD content available to date.
35 HD Channels available on Dishnetwork in VI 5/15/08
2nd and or 3rd dish required and an HD receiver.

Satellite 110 9 channels
TNT, ESPN, HBO, ShowE, Sci-Fi, USA, HD net, HD Thr, HD nmv, Several HD PPV movie channels

Satellite 61.5 26 channels
Starz, Max, 5 Max, Max W, Food network, TBS, HGTV, NatGeoHD,ESPN News, ESPN2, Tennis, A&E, CNN, Hallmark, ABC Family, Toon, Toon Disney, Disney E, Bravo, Biography, UNIHD, History Channel, NFL channel, NBA League pass PPV, NHL Center Ice PPV. NHL TV, NBA TV, Big 10 HD.

Thanks Bombi.

I called and Herb was out but the woman who answered the phone told me they don't sell DirecTV. She did give me an estimate to setup a HD DishNetwork option ($1,210.)

Does anybody here use DirecTV still? If so who are you paying for your monthly service? Seems odd that if DirecTV is no longer an option that DirecTV didn't say anything about it when I called their Puerto Rico office.

Thanks.

Try Glentronics 778-6505 ask for Herb.

I was wondering why you wanted DirectTV so badly, then I saw NFL network. Now it makes sense.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Dish Network HD. There are more HD channels than what I have now with my current cable TV provider.

PM me or email paradisesatellite@yahoo.com
I'll give you the whole story. The system you were quoted should get you sat 119 and 110 but not 61.5
Without 61.5 you'll be missing the following HD Channels.
Satellite 61.5 26 channels
Starz, Max, 5 Max, Max W, Food network, TBS, HGTV, NatGeoHD,ESPN News, ESPN2, Tennis, A&E, CNN, Hallmark, ABC Family, Toon, Toon Disney, Disney E, Bravo, Biography, UNIHD, History Channel, NFL channel, NBA League pass PPV, NHL Center Ice PPV. NHL TV, NBA TV, Big 10 HD.

I understand the desire for NFL Sunday ticket. It's unfortunate that Dishnetwork can't offer it. You would get Atlanta and San Fran networks so you still get games from 2 different areas.

If you really want DirecTV Latin America the good thing is that they only require a 1 meter dish. You could probably fly over to PR and buy it and bring the dish and all back on the plane. Setting it up should not be hard. Just point the dish at Galaxy 3C at 95 degrees and go for it. You can find their channel line up at

Good Luck,
John

Maybe you have a friend in the states with DirectTV and you could split the NFL ticket. I subscribe in Baltimore and this year I am upgrading to their SuperFan service which allows you to watch any game on your computer. Only catch is the account can only watch one game on a computer at a time. I travel so much during football season and am tired of missing my games, I hope watching via computer is worth the extra $100.

EUREKA!!!

I wasn't aware of the SuperFan option that allows mobile access to the game!!!

I have an active subscription to DirecTV in my Seattle-area house. I was planning on shutting it down with the move of household goods this month but maybe I'll just leave it running there so I can have the SuperFan option.

Thanks 🙂 🙂
