Hello Everyone. I am a newbie on STX, moved here in late May. Prior to moving hear this website was (and still is) a godsend for learning about things on the island. In any case, now that my daughter is in Kindergarten here, I find myself just sitting at home twiddlin' my thumbs all day. I was going to do the "stay at home mom" thing but now I'm realizing that I'm bored. So I'm putting my self out there on the market. I have over 18 years of Human Resources Generalist experience with companies such as Verizon and the Home Depot. If anyone knows of any positions available or is looking for a HR consultant, I'm available to help. You can respond to this post or email me at lmprovidence@yahoo.com.

Thanks everyone!

Hello there! This may be a long shot, or something that might not happen right away, but I do know that the Native Americans from Ledyard, CT, the Pequots who own the Casino called 'Foxwoods' are already putting key people in place in St. Croix for a massive casino to be buit on the West End. Already, the architect has been hired and is either building his home, or has already moved here.

Having lived in Connecticut for 20 years, I know that this group gets things done fast. They like to have everything lined up in advance. Perhaps contacting them (there is a website with employment information and queries) might be a good step. Prior to hiring more people, which is a given, I would imagine they would want at least a part time HR person who is really strong. As you already live here, I don't think it is beyond imagination that they might hire early to have that piece in place so that they can hire, train, etc. a pretty significant work-force.

I heard about the architect in January, so I would imagine they are much further along the hiring and development path at this point in time. They also in general are an excellent employer, pay well and take care of their employees.

I know also that the larger hospitality places on St. Croix have HR people, but I imagine that when someone gets in a position, they generally will be there for some time.

I hope this might be at least marginally helpful.

Best wishes,

Dan

Hovensa has an on-line listing of current job openings, one of which is for a Human Resources Manager. Here is a link to the site:

Thank you "JE" and "danieljude". I sincerely appreciate the tips. I actually have an interview that hopefully will be scheduled sometime this week so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks again.
