You were lucky.
Marilyn hit on Sept 15.
No power from WAPA until a couple days before Christmas.
VITELCO/INNOVATIVE Phone service was back mid April.
NO cable TV for 2 years ?
Cell phones weren't wildly used in dem days.

Honestly don't remember. It was expensive and if you had to go to "call stations" that had phone service, that was was expensive and time consuming with long lines.
I know cell tower and internet went down with Ivan and Omar.

That's another thing: cell service was down after Omar in my location, north side, STT and when I made calls, I didn't think to check where my cellphone signal was coming from so got a whopping bill from AT&T because my phone picked up Tortola's tower.

I was able to explain the situation, after speaking with a manager and to have the fee waived. Just another thing to consider.

Basically, if you've never been through a major hurricane, you've honesty got no clue as to how much your life can be changed and how long it can take and stressful it can be.

Just read the 11pm NHC discussion and boy will it be close. Every update has it edging closer and closer to the VI.

STT Humane Society is packed up.
That probably goes for the shelters and rescue organizations on all of our islands. They don't have room for another single animal. With the impending storm, even more animals will get dumped on them and they simply don't have any room.

They need people to help them secure their shelters, food, water, supplies, extra kennels, volunteers and especially fosters so they don't have to euthanize perfectly adoptable animals.

If you have a neighbor that can use a helping hand, give it.

We were just plain tired after preparing for Luis and didn't prepare as much for Marilyn. I lost a lot on STX and WAPA was out until first of December!

I'm hoping we aren't in for the same scenario as '95!
