we had minimal damage for omar. a little leaking and tree debris. we were hunkered down quite nice. we had power back the next evening also. we are on one of the most important feeders also

I would also add that Hugo was probably the first hurricane to actually hit St. Thomas in 30-40 years. The Island did get brushed by a hurricane in the mid-70's, which tore up my dads 22 foot Trojan boat.

Sara: The gist of this thread is: There were a couple of huge storms that changed many lives- Hugo and Marilyn. Then there were several others over the years that were notable, but not as devastating globally. You make sure that your living space is as safe as you can get it. You prepare at the begining of the season. You stay vigilant through the season. You take the alerts and warnings seriously.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
