in the summer you might have to take a charter for him. from what i understand most airlines ( if not all ) will not allow a dog in cargo when the temps reach a certain high. i dont think a dog that big can go carry on.
might have to fly charter. there are a few threads here on travel with pets, be sure to check them out

This law is abused by many, but I would do it before leaving a pet behind.

You won't be able to fly your pup at all during summer months unless you do so with a private charter. Many companies that fly pets often have shared flights with others in similar situations to defray costs but it's still expensive. Good luck.

The company above is a kennel in Fort Lauderdale that specializes in shipping pets all over the world. They have shipped to the Caribbean for over 30 years. The air cargo planes they use fly at night so temperature restrictions are rare.

Animals leave Fort Lauderdale around midnight and reunite with you on STX by about noon the following day. Obviously, it's better to have different persons at both ends of the delivery in case of delays. They handle the paperwork.

The cost would be around $1500 to STX compared with a $13,000 private charter.

If anyone has complaints about this service - I hope you let us know.

If there are 3-4 others persons who would want to share a private jet charter from Florida, I'm good to go anytime. Just PM me please.
