well this is the first part of my moving story. Left Corpus Christie Tx right on time and all plane swiches went like clock work. Arrived at 5:59pm and rented a car and got a hotel room for 3 nights. this was on the 8th of Sept. Found a good car I could afford the next day anso saved a bundle on car rentals. The day after that I found a place to live that I could afford. All of this was made posible by a new friend who has lived on the island for 50 years. STX is even better than I expected it to be. I have a cell phone with a local number so if any of you who have read my posts and want to call me here it is;332-9962 more later as this is a rented computer. Part 2 in the near future

Glad you made it -- you definitely picked an exciting time to arrive. It's not many folks that can say they landed, bought a car, found a home, got a local cell phone and experienced their first tropical storm all in their first week on the island!

Am even more delighted that you find STX eve nbetter than you thought it would be. I still feel that way every day, and (amazing as it is to me) we're just one week shy of finishing our fourth month down here.

Sorry we weren't able to get word to you that Jeanne caused us to postpone the Get Together. We'll be sure to ring you up whe we have the new date locked down.

Welcome!

HC

Welcome, John. What part of the island are you on? I can't remember if you are retired or looking for work.

Yeah John!!! I knew you'd be at Off the Wall if at all possible. I had tried sending you an email on the off chance that you had access to the internet but the email bounced back.

I called OTW earlier and they said they were closing so I didn't want to risk heading out. I was disappointed about the timing too. I'm glad that you have found STX even more than you expected...........letters like yours are good to hear. Keep us posted on your move and what's happening.

We have left STX and we're off to Egypt so we'll miss out for now but eventually we'll be back and meet everyone.

Had the car 2 days and got it rearended by a towtruck. Ins sayes it is totaled out but I am still driving it and nobody was hurt. Not a very pleasent welcome to the Island but that is ok. All the great people I have ment have sure made up for it. As for the tropical storm, no problem as I have gone through the same weather in texas so I just went off to sleep and let it do its thing. I found a place in Est. Sion Farm which puts me close to everything I need except the boardwalk and that is not a bad drive at all. Took a drive over the Island Sunday and saw the north, south and east ends of it and was very impressed. What a beautiful place to retire to. Part 3 of story will be on soon

RPJ,
Welcome to the island. Linda & I retired here a year ago last August. It's a great place to retire to. I'm now a beach bum at the Buccaneer. Life is good.

Good for you!! Another delay for our family means arriving in January instead of October. It keeps my hopes up hearing about the arrival of others.

Best of luck, John!
