islands.vi is the domain of Choice Communications so if you use them as your ISP you'll have it automatically.

Dont do it. Choice is an absolutely terrible choice for an internet provided.
I gave up my islands.vi e-mail that I had for decades due to their lousy service.

I had Choice for years and was quite happy until they had change in management/ownership and started selling cell phones and raffling off cars.
My service became so bad and my downtime was so frequent that I had NO CHOICE but to change my islands.vi e-mail address and move on to BBVI.

Now, my billing gets to me on time, they don't cut me off on a Fri. afternoon when no-one is available until mid-day on Monday or have someone that is responding from somewhere outside the VI and I have to spend hours trying to get hold
of a tech to have a problem rectified. I hated when they'd tell me to come down their store because it MUST be my modem, only to get there and discover the modem works perfectly, it's their stupid signal! I don't get a bill until after they disconnect me and on and on it went, so I went............to another provider.

Don't get me started with them. The service was horrendously atrocious!

now I use [email protected]

Good Luck.

The .vi domain registrar used to have an office in town in Royal Dane Mall. There's a database online somewhere for all the domains and their registrars.

Now what is it called? whois.com? Or Google domain name registrars. It's been years since I tracked them down, but I did contact them.

The .vi domain was more expensive than .com et al, so I didn't bother.

If I get more detailed info, will post again, but for now, just wanted to let you know that there should be other options than Choice.

Here's the .VI registrar contact information online. I'm not sure how current it is.

https://secure.nic.vi/contact-us/

You will have to obtain and set up your own email host, such as Rackspace, or GoDaddy, and so on, once you have registered a domain.

Yes, that's it. I think it's somebody at the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands that is the registrar. I contacted them by phone, if that helps.

I'm not defending Choice as I too had very poor experience with them, starting with their TV service and then with their internet service. For my TV I switched to DISH which I had for over 10 years. Loved it for the first several years but the last six months was a total customer service disaster and I finally (and after several warnings to them) cancelled it. For internet I had switched to Innovative from Choice a few years ago (very minor glitches overall), had a landline with them for years and then went with a bundle deal for all three services. The "learning curve" switching from DISH to cable was a bit of a challenge at times for an old broad but my screw-ups are much less and I'm perfectly happy now with the bundle which is costing me FAR less overall.

I guess the point I'm making about Choice is that things change over time and maybe they aren't now as bad as they used to be - just as I was all about DISH until they went on a downslide.

This may not be of much help to the OP but may be of interest to newcomers.

Someone who has an islands.vi address says they aren't giving them out anymore.
