I am relocating to USVI at the end of March. Mostly likely STT, but wherever opportunity presents itself. I'm am really interested in working on the water, preferably on a sailboat, but will take what I can get. Could anyone point me in the right direction to go about doing this?
Thanks
-Eric

Peter,

I will definitely drop you a line when I get down. I plan to be on STT around mid-late March.

Thanks,

Eric

Eric,
Have you ever sailed before?

Even if not some owners who race their boat, like Peter, need crew. I have been sailing 22 years now I have a 22ft paceship and I sold it. I now crew every wednesday night and weekends here in NJ.

Try going to the local yacht club and ask when they have their midweek race, usually easier to get on a boat, by non skid boating shoes, keds if money is tight, buy racing gloves and learn about sailing, boating safety etc.

You will be surprised how quickly you can become a part of the sailing and boating community.

Here is a good site;

Great dvd on sail shape of speed (sail trim)

Keep us posted..

Have fun and welcome
Mike

Mike,

Thanks a lot for the info, anything is helpful. I have some sailing experience, although minimal. I am ready to get on the water and learn more.

Thanks,

Eric

Eric,
Here is a site I just came across and is well worth registering to. It has video and info on all the Caribbean regattas along with some instructional videos.

http://www.t2p.tv/shop/raceboatdvd.php

Glad to help, now I maybe pro race but don't think I don't love just pure sailing either. For me becoming a part of a crew was my first team sport, believe it or not.

Here is the link for St Thomas yacht club

The offer from Peter sounds like a great opportunity.
