Went to Top Sides anniversary last night. The food and drinks were good but the music was terrible!!!!
The steel pan music.... The guy could not sing and it was so loud you had to shout to talk to you dining companions.
After they were done a guy who I think was probably good was on. But he was so loud I couldnt really enjoy his music.
Why in such a small place do they have the sound like they were playing to a stadium ??
If it was not for the fact that my friends wanted to eat there I would have left.

Don't take it wrong, I love steel pan music but not so loud and with a bad singer. The 9 year old that played with them was good.

You lost me at good food and drinks....just kidding...well sorta. 🙂 Didn't even know they were still open.

It's the island way. The singer will be 5 feet away from you but will bring an amplifier. I've just learned what time music starts at my favorite places and make sure I'm not there. But in general the locals/younger transplants like the loud music, it's not going away. Wish it was. That's why I prefer it on the boardwalk, I can easily go somewhere else or at least be able to stand back to where I can talk to the people I'm with.

This was an older crowd. I believe they all live here, not tourists.

I play with a 4-piece group (www.jazzmin.org) and we make a point of ensuring that the diners can converse with each other. We also have a really, really good singer. Maybe you need to add the Beachside Cafe at Sandcastle on the Beach to your list of favorite places, and come check us out on the 19th of November...the food is amazing.
