sorry for wastin anybody's time who reads this and doesn't care, but u read the topic.... i'm bored.

so,
i plan on moving to STX next year. i wouldn't say i am overly excited because i don't expect this to be an easy transition, but i cannot help thinking about it at least once or twice a day for a small time. so i would like to ask anybody who has lived or does live on the island for something i can be looking forward to. no essays please, just some simple stuff.

i am sure there are more than a few things i can not be looking forward to, but let's try to make this a pleasant thing, please.

When I have a day off and Ric is working my perfect day consists of:
Finish my very simple household chores,
Gather up my beach chair and my book,
Go down to either Full Moon for late breakfast or Off the Wall for lunch,
Read the papers, eat and watch/listen to the waves,
Sit at Cane Bay for 2 - 3 hours and read.
I may or may not actually get into the water. And I occasionally vary the beach/restaurant.

Doing this reminds me of why we came to STX in the first place. Refreshing for both body and soul.

Linda J

I just got back from a business trip where I had to spend some time in Nashville, TN and in Miami, FL...all I can say is WOW! I've lived here for almost 10 years, and this was the first time in around 3 or 4 years that I'd been in the States...and I'm not looking forward to going back up there in January! Ugh! Everyone is in such a rush! And everyone ignores everyone else! I couldn't wait to get back home! The whole 'vibe' up there is so much different than here.......I'm not looking forward to January....But I did get a chance to have a Whopper at Burger King, so it wasn't a completely wasted trip! Haha!

Oh, to have a cup of hot Java, sitting out on the porch and lookin' at the view! I would never trade that for the world! 🙂 (Remember, we can do that in the Winter)!!!!!

tmleeke - Thank you so much for starting this thread!!! I'm in the process of trying to get rid of a lot of our stuff and dealing with the logistics of making the move. In the process of all of that it's nice to be reminded of why I'm putting myself through all of this. While I go out in this freezing cold to take another large load over to the thrift store to donate I will definitely picture myself in what Linda J's described as her perfect day as that sounds wonderful right now!!!

the weather, the ability to grow tomato's outside year round, to pick a pineapple off the bush in your yard or the limes and sugar apples off your tree, the fun in feeding a sand crap in his hole at cane bay a cheese dorito chip, the incredible peace you feel when you sit on the beach at sunrise or sunset.

Hi,

There are so many things to do here actually depends on your interests you can easily find something but you should be patient. My husband and I moved here 45 days ago. I don't work yet and thinking to built dance classes to teach latin dances. Beaches are great and we enjoy snorkelling on weekends. Easy, simple life makes us happy, beautiful trees, ocean breeze, sunny days, freindly people around..

Sunrise 74 degrees. Sunset 82 degrees. 10 MPH trade winds. Friendly, courteous people. De slo mon pace. OK to have a beer when driving. Living in a place with an actual culture. The beautiful beaches and warm sea to swim in. Fresh fish and lobster. Beautiful starlit nights and on and on.

Thank you for asking that questions. I really am thinking of relocating to the VI and I keep telling my husband, life is just slower and less stressful.

Slower, yes, but if your work/life does not allow the luxury of slower, it can be quite a conflict.

Less stressful? I haven't found that to be true.

Still, I'm relatively happy here. Love my view.

Life's little (and big) problems happen wherever you are. I'd rather deal with those problems while enjoying the great views..

I'm with LindaJ.....my book and a nice warm breeze on one of any number of beautiful beaches.....and of course an afternoon nap under a palm tree (avoid coconut trees) 🙂
Now, Bombi....Have you been in the water lately???? Brrrrr!! It is the middle of winter you know!!!
Funny, i never understood how 80 degrees in the water could be "chili" but now....after 88 degree waters in summer, I don't go much past my toes!!!!
