Searched for this topic didnt come across it...if its already on here send me the link...but would like some information on St. Thomas. Ive done my research seeing as Im going to be moving there in a couple weeks. However, I would like some info from people that actually live there now. Best places to go for food? Best beaches? Best place for seafood (not a restaurant)? Worst place? Things along those lines.

Rather subjective questions, don't you think? If you mean food as in groceries, that topic has been discussed. If you mean a restaurant, well the BEST one is the one I work at, Fish Rails, of course! I'm sure favorite beaches have been addressed as well, but my true favorites are on St John, but STT beaches would be Secret Harbor and Sapphire. But there are a lot of lovely secluded beaches, too (think Stumpie, Neltjeberg, Fortuna.) I eat all my seafood at work (I know for real how fresh it is there 🙂 ) so I don't have an opinion on seafood. There are fruit slash fish stands scattered about the main roads on the island. I have yet to stop and buy anything from them yet, however.

Best restaurant for tex-mex: Amigos
For nice but casual dining: Room with a View
Best ambience and innovative menu: Havana Blue
Best everyday dining: tie Hook Line & Sinker or Tickles or Molly Malones
Best Romantic upscale dining: Old Stone Farmhouse
Best Upscale dining the restaurant at The Ritz Carlton (The Bleu ... Something)

Best beach: Smith Bay Park

The Daily News does publish a "Best of the VI" insert every now and again that covers a lot!

I disagree with nearly all of InTheHills' suggestions. Molly's and Hook, Line and Sinker -- food is mediocre at best. Have you been to Torcido Taco in Pools and Pavillions? Much better Mexican food, and $2 tacos for happy hour. I did like Tickles, however. In Frenchtown, I love Pie Whole (great lunch special there!) and Craig and Sally's. I hear Thirteen is fabulous, but haven't been there yet. And Smith Bay Park for best beach, huh? The thing, to me, that makes it less than best, the angle! And now that the folks who manage Magens have taken over, we're most likely going to have to pay all the time. Neltjeberg is better for a local beach, I think.

Of course, everyone's tastes are different.

My favorite restaurants on STT are Enkai for sushi and 13 for EVERYTHING! PieWhole in Frenchtown is awesome...great pizza and salads. Betsy's in Frenchtown for lunch - good and reasonable (great daytime bartender, Tracy!). The Grill at Mahogony Run is great lunch and dinner, too. Sibs has the BEST french fries and an awesome bartender Monday/Thursday nights - Kristin - she is a rock star on the bar (used to be at Tickles...no matter, Tickles food is too expensive and their french fries are AWFUL!!) Beaches, I have to agree with VISnorkler that they are on STJ, however, Magen's on a low key Sunday with friends can be awesome as can Emerald by the airport (a quick shoot down the hill from me!). Neltjeberg is lovely, too, as is Sandy Bay and Mermaid's Chair within Botany Bay...a long hike down and up but BEAUTIFUL!! Best seafood for us is G & D..anything on the East End is just not in our weekly travels (heard Fish Tales is awesome, though, VISnorkler! Maybe because you work there??!!).

Haha! Not JUST because I work there, though, that alone should cause everyone to flock there!! 😎 I, on the other hand, never get over to that end of the world for restaurants. I think I've visited every obscure beach on the whole of STT, however. I can't seem to find Caret Bay, though, so if anyone knows how to get there, share!!

@Juanita, Kristin is slim but 5'8", so tall by my standards (with my 5'3" self!)...dark hair, from NJ/Philly area...been on island for 16 years or so. Awesome, very involved in the community and just so happens to be my BFF and neighbor!

There are several old threads if you search for them that have many posts. You'll obviously get a lot of different opinions as I think Amigo's is about the worst mexican food on earth. Likewise, I like Molly Molone's for breakfast and bottomless mimosas or just drinking, not for their food. 13 is an awesome restaurant, I also like the Cellar, Banana Tree, Oceana, there are many.
