Well hello all. Me and my girl are sick of the cold and snow in the mid west and are planning on moving to either STX or SST. So we are looking for as much info we can. She is a agency cardiac nurse and would have no problem finding work down there. I on the other hand am a fire fighter. I can't find out how to apply or who I need to talk to about find out if there are any openings. We are also wondering what we need to move with us. Meaning lots of questions, to many to ask here. So we are hoping to maybe make a few email friends.
Send a note and we will send our email if anyone is interested in helping us escape the cold.

Dennis and Angie

have you ever been here? you really should come down for a pre move visit before you decide to make the move. please read this forum in detail. don't skip over any posts as sometimes topics get shifted mid topic. read the ones on crime, hovensa, schools-if you have children, cost of electric, grocery stores.....the new pending unemployment rate, the 8% government paycuts and job loss also cost of rent-housing.

if after reading those you still have questions come back and ask. everyone on here gives great advise.

Apart from the forum information (and I think that should really be the last to research and will fill in many blanks) go to the top of this page and, starting from left to right, read everything from "Home" to "Message Board". Tons of invaluable information there about the reality of living here. The telephone number for the Administration Department of the fire service is 340-774-7610. Good luck!
