I am wondering what the market is like for information technology professionals in the VI, particulary STX? If any body on the board is one, or knows of one in the VI, I am curious of what companies could be potential employers, what they work on, how they landed the position, salaries, etc? I am working towards my goal of relocating to STX, and I want to make my as marketable in this field as possible. Any information that someone would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated.

I/T jobs are few and far between. You just have to be at the right place, at the right time, with the right skill set. It also helps to have a contact within whatever company you are applying at, just like any other place.
I was very lucky and found my job as a Network Engineer on STX after only 2 months of looking.

there is an ad in avis right now for an IT person for Marshall & Sterling Insurance in stx. you might want to follow that up. i think they are a pretty big company, so that could be a good job.
