Internet - broadband

My wife and I are looking to move to St. John with my financial newsletter company.

Have been researching internet services on the islands and wanted to see if any locals have feedback. Broadband and not dial up is what I am looking at.

There seems to be some options, notice Hybrid is failing, VI Powernet, Alphastar and soon maybe Starband via satilite, how about cable - do the VIs have cable modem broadband and whom is this with? Comcast?

Also I see this Centennial Comm. out of PR, are they in the Virgins and do they have a product.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

VI Powernet is advertising DSL service. I have heard that it does not seem any faster than the dial up service that they offer, and have heard mention that there is a bottle-neck somewhere. The service is around $60/mo for residential (after the first 3 months at~ $40) and you have to be within some certain distance of the telephone connection. No other "high tech" connections yet...
