OKay so i live in cruz bay on STJ. recently i have had a number of run-ins with a certain woman in town who is pretty well known for having mental issues. I believe that she is homeless and untill recently she has just followed me and yelled in my face....i always just try to ignore her and walk into the nearest store. yesterday she hit me and pushed me...i have heard that other women in town have had problems with her. What can i do? i love love love this island and have felt totally safe so far...i dont want one incident to change that. do i go to the cops, do i turn and yell back, do i ignore and hope she just stops??????help!

Go to the cops immediately! What are you afraid of? Would you tolerate this in the states? NO!!

I was in Cruz Bay often when I was on STJ for 5 weeks recently, I know who you're talking about! I had the opposite experience, she came up to me and kissed me. I would contact the police or Social Services, I'm sure they've dealt with her in the past and it would be beneficial for them to know if she's becoming violent... may be a med issue since there's obviously a mental health problem here. In the mean time, dodge her! Cathy

i think i know whom you're talking about. she bugged me out, too, last time i was on island. yes, please report this pset to this authorities. she's probably annoying tourists as well, and the last thing we want is for them to go back to the states vowing never to visit the VI ever again b/c of the crazy lady down there. 🙁

Hello Marry,

I agree with Cathy, if she is getting violent then social services/police should be told about it. Report it to the police and try to avoid her if possiable, even if it means walking a longer way to get where you are going.
