Hello. I was just offered a position on St. Thomas that pays 50K. I'm not sure if this is good, bad, or indifferent in the local economy.

I'm married with three children.

Any help?

Thanks.

Hello BillV,

50K is pretty good for here as far as salaries go but really and truly completely depends on what the job is of course and the package (insurance ect.). As to whether its good for living here - depends on your standard of living and your projected expenses; are kids school aged, will your wife be working, how large a house do you plan to rent ect.

I don't want to stir up a whole can of worms again, but most folks coming from the States put their kids into private schools here. You may want to figure that in your budget. (My understanding is that it isn't cheap).
