Bill,

End of July - well you would have cleared high tourist season, cleared St. Thomas and St. John Carnival.... late July and August are sleepy time in the USVI - more of less. Don't get my wrong visitors still come in however in a much lower volume. For example Cruise Ship schedules for November through April are generally 1-7 ships every day.... Next month there are several days with no ships and June, July, August should be also quiet as they are off season. So you won't experience the number of tourist you did in April.

Weather is great all year round and July is often particularly hot and sunny and dry.

Good timing Bill.

Did you really enjoy your trip in April - thus the next trip a couple months later 🙂 were you on a cruise or onisland - what did you enjoy. Did you make it to St. John - if not plan on doing that this trip.

We flew in and visited for 6 nights/7days. the July trip will be 10 days. Want to do a lot of diving and will definitely rent a car this time to do some sight seeing on our own ( who is the best for car rental?) stayed at the rennaissance and had a great time. Want to look at property for initially investment then retirement in 4-5 yrs. forgot to buy the settlers handbook, but will pick it up next trip. thanks for all your advice, this is a very informative site.

Hello Bill,

Rental Car - you can try Budget Rental .... some folks like to use Dependable. Budgets always worked when I have guest visiting. The web site is

http://www.budgetstt.com

Renting a Car is a great idea to see more of the island, you can take it over on the car barge to St. John and drive around St. John also. Allows you more freedom to see the island on your schedule rather then relying on a taxi. You should order the Settlers Handbook online at http://www.vitraders.com and request the Real Estate Magazine when you buy the book that way you can do the research in advance and be ready to make the most of your 10 days in terms of vacationing and looking for property. Also will give you a chance to look through the properties that are for sale and can think about where you might want to look once on island for homes/land.

Enjoy your planning and upcoming trip - and look forward to hearing about how the trip goes when you return. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. 🙂
