Laptop/computer problems with moisture?

Hi, just wondering how laptops or computers (dvd players, etc) do with the humidity there. Is there a way to store the laptop while not in use (i.e. airtight container) that may help? Our living conditions will be pretty much open air. Any suggestions and information is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello Cici,

I have never done anything special to dvd players, stereos, tv's etc. in terms of covering them. I do unplug them when the power is going on and off. Sometimes when the power comes back on the voltage is too high and it burns out equipment. You should definately get a surge protector for all electronics.

Perhaps storing your laptop in a laptop carrier would work for you when you aren't using it. A desk top - you could get the computer cloth-type covers. Hopefully others will have suggestions.

Thanks for that, I wasn't sure how the salt air would do with my laptop or dvd player. Any one else's opinions or experiences are welcome.

You could always do what welders do to keep the moisture out of the welding rods.
Place laptop, cameras, etc inside a wooden or metal box with a light bulb burning all of the time. The more sealed the better. A old icebox works great, but the light needs to be on all of the time.
