Last Minute Relocation

Hello!

My name is Kim and I am a 22 year old second grade teacher. I am looking to relocate to USVI super last minute, as the job for this coming school year just opened up. I do not have time for a visit before relocating and need a bit of assistance in finding a place to live and deciding what route to take with my car.

I am looking for a place close to the Gifft Hill School on St John and am hoping to pay less than 1000/month. I would be relocating with my boyfriend who is a USCG 6pck captain and would also be looking for work in the area.

Anyone got any advice? I'm terrified and excited and overwhelmed with the idea of totally changing my direction in life in a matter of weeks.

Thanks!

Getting around on STJ is fairly easy as there aren't that many main roads and routes. Once on island you can check the bulletin board at Connections, just up the road from the passenger ferry dock.
They'll have messages about rentals, jobs, etc.

Paying less than $1000 per month may be challenging.
Can't Human resources at Gift Hill school give you information or answer any questions you may have?
The Inn at Tamarind Court may have affordable prices for a room to get you settled in while you look at affordable rentals.

There are also weekly vacation rentals available on airbandb, vrbo, flipkey websites.
You can also contact a local realtor to help with your search.

Rule of thumb, don't rent sight unseen.
Ask about nighttime noises, crowing roosters, etc.
Good luck

Hello!

I am so sorry for the confusion however I have chosen not to continue with interview process. I will not be relocating nor have I been offered a job on the island. This post was merely a way to explore opportunities. Once again, my apologies for the confusion.

And people wonder why they have trouble getting help until they actually move here...

LOL! I was thinking at least this one quit the job before they started instead of a few months into the job. That happened to my son 4 years in a row when he attended Gifft Hill School.
