I don't know about leasing, but consider buying a used car instead, and selling it when you leave. It's probably much cheaper, and you won't cringe as much when you get it scratched, bumped and pot-holed, as often happens on our beautiful roads and parking lots.

Once upon a time I stopped in at Antilles. Leasing a car here is extra expensive. $600 ++ a month, which would add up to $4000 in less than 7 months.

Thanks guys, I will call them to see what there rates are. I called several rental agencies and its about 700 a month..... yikes.... ive been looking at craigslist for used car but its slim picking.. how do people normally advertise used car sales? or do i just need to go to a dealership?

People normally advertise in the avis (our newspaper). Or put their car on the side of the road with a for sale sign. Wait till you get here. Buying a car long distance would be a disaster. There will be plenty to choose from when you get here. Car dealers also sell them and like stateside they are usually more from the dealer then a private party.

$600 or $700 is about as good as it gets for a monthly rate. Its a discount compared to the daily rate which is more like $40 a day. But thinking of how most drive rental cars here its a bargain.

Yes its totally doable, don't expect to have a lot of beach time but yes you can get it done in one week. Just like you could do that all in a week stateside. It will be stressful but you can do it. We you're new to the island I would recommend renting in the safest area possible.

I leased a small SUV from Antilles Leasing, They e mailed me a quote. Their price was great and the vehicle was almost brand new. They even included insurance with my lease payment. (not all stateside insurance is valid in the USVI). I was totally satisfied with Antilles and plan to lease from them again next year. They made it easy to handle the transaction before I arrived on island.
