Be better prepared.

Invest in 1 100AMP car adapter with a plug---cost $12.99 in states. this allowed me to call any cell phone or computer. At nite, I ran an extension cord and was able to have a lamp on, and charge my phone at the same time. All by the power from my car.

If you have a laptop, sign up for SKYPE. SKYPE is a program on the Internet that allows you to call from one SKYPE user to another. Moreover, having SKYPE and no phone during the power outage on STX, I was able to go to the palms and pick up an Internet signal. I was able to also call landlines and cell phone for a small charge. Critical, because I had my 3 year grandson and his parents didn't even know where we were after being diverted from PR. Suggest you put a $10.00 credit on SKYPE, and after about 10 calls to states, I had a $8.50 credit----however, if you call from SKYPE to SKYPE its FREEEEEEEEEE.

And lastly, be better prepared as more than likely we will encounter more days of loss power and limited if any phone service.
